Blue Benn Diner, Route 7
- Vegan-friendly. The best diner between New York and Montreal. An
old Silk City Diner car serving all homemade food at very
reasonable prices. Accent on Mexican and vegetarian. The jukebox is
as ecclectic as the menu. The deserts are to live for. Open Mon-Tue
6am-5pm, Wed-Fri 6am-8pm, Sat-Sun 6am-4:30pm.
Brattleboro

- Natural foods store with vegan-friendly deli.
Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants:

- Vegetarian except for on weekends. Vegan-friendly. Self-serve bar
with many teas, etc. Uses local and organic foods. Fresh juices. One
of the oldest co-op 'vegetarian' restaurants in the country. Still
owned by a worker collective. Has great music too. Center for young
musical/artistic community. Open Wed-Mon 11am-10pm. Closed Tue.

- Natural foods store with vegan-friendly deli. Friendly staff. "The
Co-op has the best in-season veggies and product line in southern
Vermont. What food stores should be." Open Mon-Sun 8am-9pm.

- Vegan-friendly. "Excellent hot foods, soups and veggie sandwiches.
Great breads."

- Natural foods store with lacto-vegetarian cafe. Excellent selection
of hot dishes, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads. Use many organic
ingredients. Vegan options. The store is large and well stocked.

Manchester Center

- Electic gourmet café/low-fat. "Highly creative dishes,
sandwiches. Loose, friendly style. Order at counter, get own drinks
and soup, served main dish. Healthy and tasty." Closed Mon.

- Bagel deli. Vegan options. Has tofutti spreads. Ingredients are all
natural. Environmentally conscious. Open daily.
Montpelier

- Vegetarian. Vegan options marked on menu. Local organic produce and
ingredients when possible. Open Tue-Sun for breakfast, lunch, and

- This is a store with, usually, a pot of soup or nori rolls or
chips and dip to munch. The owner is vegan and very accomodating.
There is no physical address but anyone in town can direct you to
it. Open Tue-Thu 10am-6pm, Fri noon-6pm, Sat noon-4pm. Closed Mon
& Sun.

18 Carrots, on Route 4 (the main drag), just East of the town center
- Has a vegan-friendly deli. A good health-food store. Not 100%
vegetarian. Carries bulk items, organic produce. Has a grill that
makes vegetarian burgers (several types), plus non veg items. (Grill
open for lunch only, if I recall.) Open minimum Mon-Sat 11am-6pm (it
may have been 11am-7pm or 9am-6pm). Closed Sun.
