Sage's Cafe Vegan options only 300 South 473 East, 801-322-3790, ian@sagescafe.com This is a tasty treat for Utah Vegans and Vegetarians. Beyond their eatery this company has a food cart that can be found on downtown at the Gallivan Center on Thursday nights for the Twilight Concert Series. Very tasty specials often combining unique foods together for a treat you won't soon forget. Sage's Cafe also prepares all deserts and pastries for the Evergreen Cafe. Ever Green Cafe Vegan options only 750 S State Street, 801-328-8889 They have a diverse selection to choose from including curry, sweet and sour, and stir fry. A unique, home made, "meat" substitute adds flavor and substance to their meals. All dishes are affordably priced. Open for lunch and dinner. Asian, Chinese, Vegan, Vegetarian.

NOTE: It is important to note that over the years many resaurants have added vegetarian and vegan options to their menus. Finding decent veg*an options are not that difficult. What follows below is a list of a few found in Salt Lake City.

Bangkok Thai 1400 South Foothill Drive, 582-8424 Featuring "Meatless Mondays" where all lunch entrees are $5.99 and dinner entres are $6.99. Also featuring "Discovery Dishes" as a special enticement to bring clients in before 6pm. These are specialty dishes prepared solely at special times of the day 4-6pm. Brewvies 677 South 200 West, SLC, Utah 84101 - Film Info: 801-355-5500 Brewvies is a unique cinema pub located in down town Salt Lake City. There are vegetarian selections on the menu. My personal favorite is their grilled onion covered veggi burger. I'm not sure what brand veggie patty they use but it is GOOD! Nachos, black bean egg rolls, hummus, and a bevy of other menu items available. Not to mention a decent selection of local and regional mircro-brews. Wednesday nights feature pizza slices for $1.50.

Cafe Trang 818 South Main Street, 801-539-1638 Deliscious food. A favorite of many is the tomatoe paste tofu dish. A great appetizer is the fried garlic tofu.

Shanghi Cafe 145 E 1300 South, 801-322-1841 Tasty Vegetarian food for a long life. A very reasonably sized vegetarian menu. Spring rolls, Bun, tofu dishes, and much more available. The curry 'chicken' bun is a favorite.

Koko Kitchen 702 South 300 East, 801-364-4888 Japanese homestyle cooking at a good value for takeout or dining in.

Oasis Cafe Vegetarian, Vegan, with some fish options 151 S 500 East, 322-0404 Great patio for weekend brunch. Featuring live music. Selection of coffees and pastries.

La Salsa Mexican Cross Roads Mall Food Court, 521-3300, 50 S. Main Street 400 South and 532 East, 521-8200 with many other loactions around Utah

Salt Lake Pizza and Pasta 2100 South 1080ish East - North side of street- 484-1804 Good red sauce, marinara, for the pasta - no chicken broth

Fiddlers Elbow 2100 South 1080ish East - connected to Salt Lake Pizza and Pasta The roasted veggie sandwich is tasty all year round. This is perfectly complimented by their vegan chili. A tasty treat is the vegan chili fries (optional with cheese).

Granatos 1391 South 300 West, SLC, 486-5643 Sandwiches with Vegetarian options The BEST roasted red pepper sandwich in town! You can get it without dairy (mayo, cheese).

Grove Street Market 1906 S Main, 467-8860 This place has the BIGGEST sandwiches in town. The avocado and tomatoe sandwich is enough for lunch and dinner and it is under $6.00. Sorry, no vegan options available here.

The Other Place Cafe 469 East 300 South, 521-6567 I like their special hasbrowns or pancakes. They do offer a veggie gyro.

Crown Burger 118 North 300 West, 532-5300 3190 S Highland Drive, 801-467-6633 377 E 200 S, 801-532-1155 Have a veggie burger and fries I think it is a Garden Burger (tm) which may have dairy in it. Keep in mind this is a Greek owned burger place and the smell of cooking meat is fairly prevalent.

Marie Calendar's There are several in Utah - check the phone book for nearest location. Their marinated veggie burger has been voted the Best in Utah by the SL City Weekly.
